Privacy Policy
At IRC, we are careful to preserve everyone’s privacy. We have specific policies in two areas:
- Retreat Questionnaire and Reflections Forms: This information is used only by the retreat teachers to support retreatants during the retreat. Although online retreat managers and technical support volunteers have the technological ability to access it, they are specifically instructed to not access them.
- These documents are destroyed at the end of each retreat.
- Credit Card Information: IRC does not store your credit card information.
- IRC does not have access to the information of any online donations or deposits.
- If you offer a donation by writing down your credit card information, once we process the donation, we destroy the information.
Online Profile and Privacy. We process personal information for certain legitimate purposes which include some or all of the following:
- Where processing allows us to enhance, personalize, or otherwise improve our services and communications for the benefit of our community. This includes but is not limited to our need to personalize communications with individuals wishing to attend retreats and other activities offered through our centers.
- To identify and prevent fraud.
- To enhance the security of our network and information system.
- To better understand how people interact with our website.
Whenever we process information for these purposes we do so taking your rights into account. We will not collect personal information from you when you visit our website unless you provide the information to us voluntarily and knowingly. Any shared personal information will only be used to send information regarding our organization and activities or to contact you when necessary. It will not be shared with any outside parties. You may “opt out” of our data collection or future mailings at any time. Please bear in mind, that if you do object this may affect our ability to support your attendance at some activities such as retreats.
A deposit is required when one registers for a retreat. The deposit amount varies depending on the length of the retreat, and is 100% refundable if one cancels before the cancellation date, or attends the retreat. The posted cancellation date is typically three weeks before the retreat starts.
Donations
Insight Meditation Center of the Mid-Peninsula is a 501(c)(3) organization, with tax ID 77-0450217. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Email List
At the bottom of any non-personal emails is an “unsubscribe” link. This link will immediately remove you from our email list.
